The world’s environment is rapidly deteriorating and the global political scene continues to be punctuated by episodes of chaos and violence. Even so, compassion and humanity can be found alongside starvation and loneliness. From destruction ruin, and decay comes opportunities for construction and renewal. As an artist, my work reflects these and other dualities. I seek to convey my mixed emotions through my art
while projecting a sense of peace, order and faith in simple and symbolic ways.
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Catherine came to Canada after receiving her BFA degree in oil painting from National Taiwan Normal University. In addition to her university studies, she was mentored by numerous Chinese painting masters. They are Hu Ke-Min, Su Fung-Nan and Liang Xio Zhong in floral and mountain scenery painting.
In Canada, Catherine studied printmaking at University of Alberta, and University of Calgary. To name a few, her instructors included: Walter Jule, Bill Laing, Lyndal Osborne, Noboru Sawai , John Will.
